Attuned Drawing 1
🎨 Attuned Drawing
Have you ever stared at a blank page, pen in hand, and felt a sudden wave of intimidation? Have you ever left a sketch unfinished out of fear that you might ruin it, or found yourself trapped in a frustrating loop of drawing and erasing until the paper crumpled?
Maybe you are searching for a new, long-term hobby that doesn't hurt your wallet. Perhaps you want a meaningful workshop to share with your child or a friend. Or maybe you are simply tired of explaining your ideas with long, winding words when a simple sketch could say it all.
Welcome to Attuned Drawing.
I am a local artist, deeply passionate about various mediums—especially drawing. Since 2001, I have had the privilege of teaching art to children, adults, and portfolio students. Attuned Drawing is a project I have envisioned and prepared for a very long time, and I am incredibly joyful to finally open its doors to you.
I firmly believe that everyone—regardless of age, background, or prior art experience—can develop their own unique drawing style through the power of observation. When we deeply observe the world and translate it onto a flat page through lines and shapes, we enter a state of pure immersion. In that flow state, time changes, moving beautifully fast or slowly.
Over the course of a few weeks, I have designed a series of hands-on activities to help you naturally embody this fluid drawing process.
What to Expect in Our Practice-Centered Sessions:
👁️ Deep Observation: We will look intensely at the living world around us—capturing the movement of people, the timeless architecture of libraries, and the objects right in front of us. We accept this time to fully feel and embrace the subject exactly as it is.
✍️ The "Bicycle" Reflex: This workshop is designed to release the mental brakes that scream, "You have to draw perfectly." The moment your eyes see a line, your hand will respond automatically—just like riding a bicycle. You will learn to catch passing, fleeting moments in rhythmic, stylish lines.
🧘 Silencing the Inner Critic: We conquer the fear of the blank page and let go of the stress of judgment. You will experience the immense liberation of realizing that how your hand naturally moves isyour authentic art style.
Our drawing journey takes root in the open air. We will gather at Prospect Park for our first session, which will serve as the main home for most of our workshop serie
Bring a drawing book and pencil, release your expectations, and let's find your way of drawing together. Open to all skill levels.
Mini & Me Drawing
for grownups & little ones
Whether you’re a mom, dad, grandparent, nanny, even if you’ve never drawn before, you’re warmly welcome here.
This is a creative time outdoors for adults and their little ones. Grownups focus on drawing and reconnecting with their own creativity, while young children are gently exposed to art-making, natural materials, and the rhythm of mindful observation.
You’ll learn simple drawing techniques through guided exercises — with pencil, charcoal, or just a few lines. The goal isn’t perfect drawings of trees or landscapes — it’s to build the habit of drawing, of observing carefully, and of returning to paper again and again with curiosity.
Many children will naturally begin to imitate the grownups around them. They may join in with chalk, sticks, crayons — or simply play with leaves, soil, and acorns. They might nap in the stroller or wander quietly. And that’s all welcome.
We embrace all weather. In colder months, we draw with gloves on and encourage layers and warm socks for little ones. The natural world offers something in every season — and research shows that quiet time in nature, even without structured activity, helps boost attention, emotional regulation, imagination, and problem-solving in children.
For caregivers, drawing supports focus, emotional grounding, and cognitive flexibility. Especially with simple tools like graphite and black-and-white sketching, it becomes a deeply meditative and neurologically enriching practice.
We hope this time becomes the start of a small but lasting routine — a sketchbook by your side, a few minutes of quiet drawing, and a little one nearby who sees you making, noticing, and slowing down.
This workshop is both a pause and a beginning.
